I think the level 80 boost allows you to try your character in the Silverwastes before actually consuming it. That might give you a better picture of how it plays, at least in open world. I play a mesmer. I think it's the most fun but the hardest to get right compared to the other two. Masteries are account wide and as a result are shared between all characters on your account. I have no idea how I’ll ever be able to acquire the 250 needed for my new elite specialisation.Necromancer might be an exception though.Guardian and Revenant was very easy and quick to level up the traditional way.Engineer started of slow but later felt easy to level up, but was also uninspired to play. In hindsight I might have used a boost on it instead of the Warrior.My personal take on the level 80 boost is ignore the fact it gets you to level 80. It gives you a full set of 80 exotic celestial gear and this is a pain in the tits to get normally. Some classes/builds can make real good use of this full gear set so use it on a class that can use cele build(s) really well. That's the important bit.The expacks start at level 80 - BUT what I did was use one of my 2 boosts and boosted a Mesmer to 80, and did the first quest in both PoF and HoT to unlock the mount and the glider. Makes it a lot easier to go around on my new character I'm leveling from scratch. I don't plan on playing my 80 Mesmer until I get my first character to 80.So literally unlocking any elite specilization will take 10 seconds by this. You'll need total of 300 Testimony of Heroics to unlock an elite spec. Like others have mentioned, you're already greased and oil'd up playing pvp, I see no problems boosting straight to 80 on your engi.Experience. You can then revert and try out another character to see which one you like the feel of at 80. Remember though you won't have access to elite specs during this test.Boosting a character to 80 and obtaining a mount will forever damn you prevent you from experiencing a large Tyria. Mounts are useful for getting from place to place, but most importantly, they're used by veteran players to skip content.
